LEARNING PATH: THEN’s team has designed a unique curriculum of science topics that lay the foundation for new thinking. Topics include:
• Case Studies
• An individualized approach to each patient’s health history, from early childhood to adulthood
(the Life Course)
• Both-And Thinking: how to hold two (or more) seemingly opposite or unrelated ideas at the same time, identify connections
• Developing innovative hypotheses about cause-and-effect of developmental exposures.
KNOWLEDGE SUMMARIES:
THEN’s experts have created scholarly summaries of foundational topics with extensive bibliographic backup. Topics include :
• System Science approach to health and disease
• Brain-Body Regulation
• Disruption of Regulation (through traumatic experience) and Restoration of Regulation (healing)
• Emergence – mapping where diseases come from
• A new look at Aging
CURATED SCIENCE BIBLIOGRAPHY: THEN will share with all VISION members our curated Bibliography showing links between experience in early childhood, social determinants of health, the experience of discrimination, and health outcomes. Over 100,000 peer-reviewed scientific studies have been published which conclusively demonstrate the neurobiologic connections between Brain-Body health and the impact of trauma. Many studies have also shown the healing power of restoring Brain-Body Regulation.
SCIENCE GLOSSARIES:
VISION provides a unique set of Concept Tools including extensive Glossaries. These Glossaries explain and connect key ideas from trauma science, neurobiology and system science – as well as from medicine, psychology and social work. Although many of these concepts underlie the structure of medical science, most medical and healthcare curricula do not include this knowledge.
